

Members of the Agartala Press Club, accompanied by their families, joyfully commemorated the club’s 40th foundation day with a vibrant procession and convivial gathering on Tuesday.
The festivities commenced with a spirited procession that marked the initiation of a year-long celebration, witnessing enthusiastic participation from individuals spanning across generations, from esteemed veterans to the youngest enthusiasts.
The rally commenced under the auspices of nonagenarian journalist Shrotaranjan Khisha, who flagged off the procession alongside esteemed figures such as the club’s founder secretary, Satyabrata Chakraborty, and founder member Subal Kumar Dey. Prominent veteran journalists, including Samiran Roy, Fulan Bhattacharjee, Sanjib Deb, Sekhar Dutta, Arun Nath, Pradip Dutta Bhowmik, and Samir Paul, also graced the occasion.
The rally, commencing at 11:30 am from the club premises, traversed through the city’s various landmarks, including Ujjayanta Palace, Kaman Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani, RMS Chowmuhani, and Orient Chowmuhani, concluding at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
President of Press Club Agartala, Jayanta Bhattacharyya, alongside other members of the managing committee, journalists, photojournalists, hawkers, and media personnel, actively participated in the rally.
The participants received a warm welcome on behalf of the Agartala Press Club. Post-rally, all attendees shared a delightful lunch at the club premises, fostering camaraderie and strengthening the bonds within the journalistic community. The celebrations reflect the enduring spirit of the Agartala Press Club, a cornerstone of journalistic excellence in the region.
