Efforts to improve public recreational facilities in Agartala received a fresh push on Thursday after Mayor Dipak Majumdar announced a new coffee house project at the Children’s Park Ground during an official inspection visit. The Mayor was accompanied by engineers and senior officials of the Agartala Municipal Corporation as they reviewed the existing infrastructure and discussed future development plans for the area.
The proposed coffee house is expected to become a modern leisure destination within the park premises, offering residents and visitors a comfortable environment for relaxation and social interaction. According to civic officials, the project forms part of a wider initiative by the municipal corporation to modernize public spaces while maintaining their recreational value.
During the inspection, Mayor Dipak Majumdar stated that the civic administration is committed to improving the quality of urban life in Agartala through people-friendly projects and better civic amenities. He said the coffee house would not only enhance the attractiveness of the Children’s Park Ground but also encourage more families, tourists, and young people to spend time in the area.
Officials associated with the project said the planned facility would be developed with contemporary architectural features and modern seating arrangements. The coffee house is also expected to include aesthetic landscaping and utility-based infrastructure to ensure convenience for visitors. The initiative is aimed at creating a balanced urban recreational environment where people can gather for leisure, conversation, and cultural interaction.
The Children’s Park Ground has long remained a popular destination for outdoor activities and public gatherings in Agartala. With the addition of a modern coffee house, the municipal corporation hopes to further strengthen the park’s role as an important social and recreational hub in the city.
Residents have largely welcomed the announcement, expressing optimism that the new project will contribute positively to the city’s growing urban landscape. Many believe the proposed facility could help increase tourism appeal while also encouraging cleaner and more organized public spaces.
