A two-day long programme titled, ‘Agartala Literary Fest’ commenced at Agartala Press Club on Sunday .The event was be organized by ‘Interface’ – the Tripura chapter of a leading literary organization of the North East, the Northeast Writers’ Forum.

Along with the Fest, the annual general meeting of the Forum was held and a new committee of Forum was formed with senior journalist and poet of Nagaland Monalisa Chankhija as the new president.  

From Tripura chapter Interface Prof Asesh Gupta became the Vice president. Arindam Nath became the representative from the Interface. Members and eminent writers of the Forum have already reached Agartala to take part in the programme. 

The main objective of the North East Forum is to identify the nature, future and direction of development of the multi – dimensional legacy of creative works including literature, critical expressions and translations by the writers from North Eastern Region who primarily write in English.

The ‘Interface’ is doing the same for Tripura based writers who primarily write in English since 2014.

The preliminary objective of Agartala Literary Fest is to analyze the present position of different ongoing activities relating to the English literature, critical expressions, research and to encourage the writers as well as to provide a platform to the writers of this region. Moreover, the Fest also aims at helping the writers to publish their writings. 

In a press release issued by secretary of the ‘INTERFACE’ Manishankar Das said the Agartala Literary Fest is looking forward to encourage, help and create opportunities to translate the creative literary works and articles of this region written in other languages. Along with this, the North East Forum and the Interface are working to introduce and highlight the literary works of this region at national and international arena.
