Agartala–Dhaka–Kolkata bus service resumes via Akhaura ICP, strengthening India–Bangladesh connectivity, boosting tourism, trade, visa services, and regional cooperation. Royal Moitri’s return marks renewed friendship, cross-border mobility, and economic revival for Tripura and Bangladesh communities.
In a positive development for cross-border connectivity and people-to-people ties, a bus bearing registration number TR01G1171 will soon begin its regular service from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka. Authorities said today that the bus, named Royal Moitri, re-entered Agartala through Akhaura after a gap of one year, marking an important step toward restoring normal transport links between India and Bangladesh.
Sources revealed that passport services are also expected to resume shortly. Initially, tourist visa services from Bangladesh to Agartala will be launched, enabling easier travel for visitors, traders, and families who share long-standing social and cultural bonds across the border.
The announcement has generated widespread happiness among residents on both sides, who see this move as a revival of the spirit of cooperation and mutual trust that once defined bilateral relations.
The reintroduction of the bus route connecting Agartala, Dhaka, and Kolkata is expected to benefit tourism, small businesses, and medical travelers. For many families divided by borders but united by language and heritage, the service represents more than just transportation—it symbolizes renewed friendship and harmony.
Local traders believe that improved mobility will boost cross-border commerce and revive markets that had slowed during the suspension period. Students and cultural groups are also hopeful that academic and cultural exchanges will resume, strengthening mutual understanding between the two nations.
Officials described the return of Royal Moitri through Akhaura as a gesture of goodwill and cooperation. They emphasized that such initiatives reflect the shared commitment of both countries to peace, regional stability, and inclusive growth.
