The 40th edition of Agartala Book Fair will begin from March 25 next. The Book Fair will continue till April 5.This time also the Book fair will be held at Hapania International Fair Ground with a theme ‘My Tripura, My Pride’ and ‘Drugs-free Tripura’.
In a Book Fair Steering Committee meeting headed by Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma, the organizing committee proposed three awards for young talents—Satyaram Reang Memorial Award (Dance), Ashwini Kumar Biswas Memorial Award (Music) and Sumangal Sen Memorial Award (Painting/ Sculpture). Besides, two awards exclusively for women have also been proposed.
The preparations and other related issues were discussed in the preparatory meeting held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Jail minister Ramprasad Paul, Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad, president of Agartala Press Club Subal Kumar Dey, West Tripura District Magistrate- Debapriya Bardhan, Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das Dutta and ICA Director Ratan Biswas among others were present in the meeting.
