The West Bengal unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opted for a revamp after the saffron brigade was decimated by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and even went behind the Left in the recently concluded Kolkata civic polls.
The party has dropped almost all old guards and promoted new faces including the turncoats.
The BJP has formed a committee of 12 state secretaries and 11 vice presidents.
While Tanuja Chakraborty has been made the new BJP women’s wing president removing Agnimitra Paul, Indranil Khan has replaced Lok Sabha MP Saumitra Khan as the youth wing chief.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar has reportedly been summoned to Delhi by the top brass.
In the recently concluded Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections, the BJP managed to win only three out of 144 seats while its vote shares fell below the Left, which has emerged as the prime challenger to the incumbent.
Earlier in the assembly elections in the summer of 2021, the BJP, which was aiming to get over 200 seats, won only 77 facing the TMC’s landslide 213-seat victory.
