A government press release said, African swine fever virus has been detected in the samples sent from Tripura’s Kanchanpur to Guwahati North-Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostics Lab.
Exotic Pig Breeding Farm of Kanchanpur sub-division in North Tripura has been declared the epicentre of the disease as per the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animal Act.
One km radius from the epicentre has been declared an infected zone and 10 km area has been declared a surveillance zone.
With reports of African swine fever virus’ presence in the area, the Animal Resources Development department has imposed some restrictions.
As per the restrictions, transportation of dead or alive pigs, pig meat and fodder to and from the infected zone and surveillance zone would not be allowed.
