ABVP activist stabbed in Kailasahar, situation tense

One ABVP activist Shibaji Sengupta was stabbed in Kailasahar , district  headquarters of  Unakoti district on Friday afternoon following some skirmished between students of RK Institute. Following the incident of stabbing serious communal tension had been reported from Kailasahar and its adjoining areas which had been witnessing communal overtures for the last few days.

Condition of Shibaji was reported serious and he was referred to GB Hospital in Agartala.

Reports reaching here said that a group of youths first gheraoed the ABVP activist who had gone to the school after the clashes among students. Following hot altercation with Shibaji- who fell alone- was stabbed in the stomach. After committing the crime the groups immediately dispersed.

Entire incident was reported to have been taken place infront of police personnel, in fact, as reported in front of the Officer In charge Partha Munda. It was alleged that the OC even at first declined to take bleeding Shibaji to hospital but only after when pressure was mounted upon him that he allowed the police vehicle to take Shibaji to hospital.

Meanwhile, the boundary of Kali temple made of bamboo at Kubjhar area under Laxmipur Gram Panchayat was reported to have been damaged by the miscreants in the afternoon on Friday.

In the meantime, extreme tension gripped Kailasahar with hundreds of agitated people  seen  demanding immediate arrest of the assailants and suspension of the OC.

Adminsitration, however, imposed 144 CrPc  and deployed with adequate police personnel in all sensitive areas. District Magistrate Uttam Kumar Chakma said all precautionary measures had been taken and the situation was  under control.
