TMC All India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will hold a rally in Agartala state on October 31, said Kunal Ghosh, TMC leader from West Bengal.

Ghosh said Banerjee was ready to hold a rally in Agartala long ago but the ruling BJP dismissed the plan multiple times—they misused administration and police out of TMC’s fear.

Now, Banerjee would arrive in the state and hold a public rally in the city on October 31 next, he said, adding that the party would follow the Model Code of Conduct appropriately.

Addressing the media, Ghosh alleged that many of the party workers were attacked at Nutan Bazar in Amarpur sub-division on Tuesday.

He said, “there was a joining programme followed by a public rally at Nutan Bazar of Amarpur. The prior permission was also taken from police for the programme. But, the rally-bound people were attacked. But, surprisingly, police acted like mute spectator—they obstructed the TMC leaders from going to the venue instead of taking steps against the attackers.”

“Such incidents are a clear indication that BJP is afraid of TMC’s presence in the state. We strongly condemn such attacks. Many of the people are not joining us openly following BJP’s attacks and threats but we are sure that the people will reflect their agony against BJP’s misrule in votes,” Ghosh told the media.

Ghosh, accompanied by TMC’s state steering committee convener Subal Bhowmik, sought cooperation from the administration for the upcoming party programmes.

Meanwhile, the Mahila Trinamool Congress on Tuesday staged a protest in front of PHQ demanding action against the persons involved in attacking TMC leaders and workers across the state.

On the other hand, the TMC leaders and supporters also protested in the city against the rise in prices of petrol and diesel.
