While counting across the state went peacefully with no untoward incident and all political parties expressed satisfaction, in the afternoon violence hit Teliamura in which eight persons were seriously injured . The incident took place at Ampi Chowmuhani in Teliamura . Security personnel had to resort to mild lathi-charge to disperse the miscreants. The administration has imposed Section 144 in the entire Telaimura Municipal Council area which will remain in force until further order.  Sources said, the incident took place when the TMC candidates and their agents were returning in a bus from the Teliamura SDM office at around 3 pm. The bus, escorted by security personnel, came under attack after it reached Ampi Chowmuhani in Teliamura. In the attack, 8 TMC candidates and agents were injured.

TMC sources alleged, BJP backed miscreants launched the attack. Meanwhile, security personnel resorted to mild lathi-charge and some of the miscreants were injured. Later, injured TMC activists were referred to the GB Hospital for treatment. 

Simmering tension is palpable and the District administration promulgated Sec 144 to defuse the tension and thwart the occurrence of any untoward incident.
