In a bid to position Neermahal as a prominent global tourist destination, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced on Sunday that the state government has launched initiatives to showcase Neermahal’s charm to international visitors. Dr. Saha made this statement during the closing ceremony of the traditional Neermahal Jal Utsav at Rajghat, Melagher.
“Neermahal is an enchanting tourist destination in the state. The government is actively working to enhance its appeal to international tourists, including the ongoing renovation of the rooms inside Neermahal,” stated Dr. Saha during the event.
As part of the closing ceremony of the Neermahal Jal Utsav, Dr. Saha inaugurated the long-distance swimming competition and boating competition, adding excitement to the festival. A vibrant cultural program was also organized to mark the occasion.
The 3-day traditional Neermahal Jal Utsav commenced on October 6, drawing enthusiasts and tourists alike. During the closing ceremony, Dr. Saha expressed his excitement about experiencing boating in the Rudra Sagar for the first time, underscoring how the addition of long-distance swimming and boating competitions added an extra dimension to the festival.
Dr. Saha pledged the government’s commitment to further enhance the appeal of Neermahal Jal Utsav in the coming years. “We are dedicated to showcasing Neermahal’s significance during the royal period on the global tourism map,” he affirmed.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including MLAs Toffajal Hossain and Kishor Barman, Sepahijala District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, among others. With these efforts, Neermahal is set to become a premier destination, captivating tourists from around the world with its historical and cultural richness.
