
Rajib Sutradhar, an Additional Superintendent of Police in Tripura, presently posted in Khowai district has been selected as one of the distinguished recipients of the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2023. This recognition reflects Sutradhar’s exceptional contribution to law enforcement and investigative work.
His commendable leadership has led to successful operations against drug smugglers across various regions of the state, based on intelligence inputs from local sources.
The Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation was established in 2018 to celebrate exemplary standards of crime investigation and to acknowledge outstanding contributions in this field. Announced annually on August 12, this award recognizes individuals who have consistently demonstrated excellence in their investigative endeavors.
According to a press release from the Home Ministry, a total of 140 police personnel have been chosen for this prestigious award in 2023. Among the recipients, 15 belong to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), 12 from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and others are representatives of various state police departments. Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat are among the states with significant representation, along with several other states, union territories, and police organizations.
An encouraging aspect of this recognition is the inclusion of 22 women police officers among the awardees, highlighting their vital contributions to investigative and law enforcement activities.
