A small group of underground NLFT is now trying desperately to revive militancy in the state. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, we do not have militancy in the state now, but , yes, a small group is hell bent to create disturbances. “But they will not succeed. We shall nip them in the bud”, said Deb.
The Chief Minister’s statement came in the wake of recent ambush on BSF troopers in which two jawans were killed and their weapons were taken away by the militants in remote parts of Chawmanu in Dhalai district. The ambush took place at an extreme Indo-Bangla border point.
“We did have militancy in the state at a point of time. Now we are a peaceful state. Still, a small group is trying to revive militancy. But our police and TSR are capable enough to tackle them good”, he said.
On Assam-Mizoram border issue, Deb said Tripura always believes in maintaining a cordial relation with the neighbouring states.
