Plans have been taken to build a health hub in the state by bringing all the branches, colleges and institutions linked with he alth services including nursing institute under Medical Education Directorate. With the thought ‘ Health is Wealth’, the state government is making efforts to expand health services and health infrastructure in the state, enunciated Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha after inaugurating the Government Nursing College at G+8 building of IGM Hospital complex today. The Chief Minister suggested the faculties of the Nursing College to provide learning beyond regular academic learning which is connected with modern nursing education. The Chief Minister hoped that with the joint efforts of all connected with the college including faculties, the Agartala Govt. Nursing Colle ge will one day become ‘ State of Exc ellenc e and the nursing students will benefit from it.
The Chief Minister also said, the Nursing Training Institutes of AGMC and GBP Hospital have been upgraded to Nursing Colleges recently. B. sc Nursing course has been commenced in this college with 5 0 students from the present academic year. As a result, the guardians will also be relieved that students need not pursue education outside the state. The Chief Minister said, 1 00 Health Sub-Centres will be built in the state for expansion of health services. That is why, Rs 30 crore has been allocated for this in the current budget. The chief Minister said, from the academic year 202 3 – 24, ANM Training Institute in Udaipur of Gomati district had been upgraded to 40-seated GNM Institute.
The Chief Minister in the programme said, Mera Aspataal portal has been launche d as a part of a digital initiative in health services and this will be linked to e-Hospital platform which will be helpful in treatment of cancer patients. Apart from that, a Trauma Care Centre (Level-3) at North Tripura District Hospital of Dharmanagar will be commenced in the financial year 202 3 – 24 . Rs 1,75 6 crore expenditure has been estimated for health in the state budget in the financial year 202 3 – 24 .
Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department Dr. Debashish Basu said, 175 nurses will be recruited very soon. Besides, 1 00 more nurses will be appointed on contract basis. He hoped that Agartala Government Nursing College will be established as the best nursing college in the country. Director of Directorate of Medic al Education Prof. (Dr.) Har Pras ad S harma and Director of Directorate of Health Services Dr. Supriya Mallik also spoke on the occasion. Welcome speech was delivered by Principal in-charge of Agartala Government Nursing College Maitri Chowdhury. The Chief Minister also officially launched the college website and unveiled the book cover of the college. A documentary on the infrastructure of the college was presented in the inaugural programme.
