After the critical condition observed during the pandemic, e-SHRAM was launched this year on August 26 by the central government so that no one gets left out from getting government assistance during national crisis in future. Total 56,679 unorganised workers have been registered in the state as on  October 28  among which 51,444 unorganised workers were registered through CSC registrations, 5,234 unorganised workers were self-registrations and one through SSK registration. E-SHRAM is a national database which covers unorganised construction workers, MGNREGA workers, migrant workers, Gig & platform workers, street vendors, domestic workers, agriculture workers and other unorganised workers.Those with e-SHRAM registration can avail number of assistances such as Accidental Insurance coverage through PMSBY for a year, may receive two lakh rupees in case of accidental death and permanent disability or one lakh rupees in case of partial disability, can avail social security benefits through e-SHRAM portal, may receive assistances from central and state government during natural calamities or pandemicprovided that no unorganised worker has no registration under  Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) or Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) or National Pension System (NPS) and their age should be between 16-59 years.

Unorganised workers only need to have Aadhaar card, mobile number linked to their Aadhaar and a savings bank account.

Labour Inspector Manishop Noatia informed that during the pandemic so far 40,000 beneficiaries were provided with financial assistance of three thousand rupees, each beneficiary receiving one thousand rupees monthly for three months. Workers from outside the state were sent home during the pandemic by Shramik Trains. Some were sent by bus to Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Some were sent by Scorpio to Nagaland and to South India by air. Apart from that the unorganised workers registered under the portal are getting medical, education and pension benefits, assistance for marriage and on death etc. He further said that the government has taken this initiative to uplift the unorganised workers otherwise the economy of the state as well as of the country will fall down.

e-SHRAM registrations started in Tripura on 26th August 2021. North Tripura district had highest registration with 15,193 followed by Unakoti district having 11712 registrations. West Tripura district has 6024, Khowai district has 5419, Dhalai district has 4946, Gomati district has 4506, South Tripura has 4490, Sepahijala has 4389 registrations. There is a State Level Monitoring Committee and District Level Monitoring Committee comprising high-ranking officials of differentdepartments of the state government. The role of the committee is to review and monitor the progress of the district wiseregistration, monitor the working of field level Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Sewa Kendras (SSKs), monitor the mobilization of target sub-groups of unorganised workers through line departments district wise for registration under e-SHRAM, ensure holding of regular registration camps, devise and monitor implementation of State wide awareness programmes, understand and resolve public grievances brought to the notice of the committee etc.
