In a bid to address the persistent problem of illegal parking leading to traffic congestion in the capital city, the Tripura Traffic Police have launched a new initiative aimed at raising awareness and enforcing parking regulations. This move comes as a response to the heavy traffic congestion experienced around prime routes and market areas, causing inconvenience to both motorists and pedestrians.
Under the leadership of SP Traffic Manik Das, the traffic police have been conducting awareness drives in various key locations across the capital. On Sunday, another campaign was organized in the Durga Chowmani Bazar area, following similar programs previously held in the GB Hospital area and Radhanagar area.
Addressing reporters, SP Traffic Manik Das highlighted the detrimental effects of illegal parking, particularly in market areas and prime localities. He emphasized that such parking practices significantly contribute to heavy traffic congestion and result in the suffering of a large number of people, including pedestrians.
“To control this issue and ensure smooth traffic management, our department is actively conducting awareness drives in selected localities across the state, aimed at educating people about proper parking practices,” stated SP Traffic Manik Das. He further emphasized that designated parking areas should be utilized, and individuals parking their vehicles in no-parking zones will be subject to fines imposed by the department.
SP Traffic Manik Das appealed for the cooperation of the general public and urged them to comply with traffic rules and regulations. He emphasized the importance of adhering to designated parking areas and avoiding illegal parking practices to facilitate smooth traffic flow in the city.
