The office of the Governor Arya declined TIPRA Motha leaders including its chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarman permission for meeting with the Governor Satyadeo Narayan.

It is learnt that the TIPRA Motha went to meet the Governor without any appointment.

In fact, the entire delegation of the TIPRA Motha was preventing from entering the Raj Bhawan campus following which Radyot Kishore sat on the road in front of the Raj Bhawan gate.

Pradyot Kishore, accompanied by TIPRA Motha leaders who included TTAADC CEM, EM and even ATTF leader, presently an MLA Ranjit Debbarma, arrived in front of the Raj Bhawan at 10:00 AM without an appointment. They wanted to meet the Governor to discuss the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) issues, particularly the financial constraints . However, their efforts were in vain as the Governor refused to meet them, citing the lack of a prior appointment.

It was then TIPRA Motha followers, consisting of several executive members and elected representatives of the ADC, joined him in a dharma. Nevertheless, Governor Satyadeo Narayan Arya remained steadfast in his decision not to grant them an audience. Disappointed, Pradyot Kishore and his associates had no choice but to return from the Raj Bhawan.

Soon after Pradyot Kishore took to his social media handle and wrote :  “For past many months we were seeking Hon’ble Governor’s appointment to discuss some grave issues concerning the indigenous people of the state but for some reasons best know to him and his office we weren’t given any appointment. Today, our elected representatives Hon’ble CEM, MLAs, EMs and MDCs weren’t even allowed to enter the Raj Bhavan to submit our memorandum. As the constitutional head of the state, we expect the Hon’ble Governor to impartially look into our grievances and direct the State Government to take necessary measures”.

Meanwhile, the Tribal Student Federation (TSF) of the ‘Tipra Motha’ party, took a separate course of action to voice their demands. The TSF launched a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the circuit house area. Their primary demand was the introduction of the Roman script for the ‘Kokborok’ language.

During the sit-in strike, representatives of the TSF delivered impassioned speeches, emphasizing the significance of the Roman script for ‘Kokborok.’ They highlighted the difficulties faced by tribal students in writing and using the modified Bengali script, which is currently employed for the language. Additionally, they issued a stern warning that unless the Roman script is implemented for ‘Kokborok,’ the TSF will escalate their protest to a statewide agitation, compelling the authorities to fulfill their demand.
