Activists of Hindu Yuva Vahini blocked the Kailashahar-Dharmanagar road at Bhagan Nagar under Kailashahar protesting against alleged Police inaction relating to the desecration of one Mahadev idol around four days ago.
Speaking to the media, Pradesh secretary of the Hindu Yuva Vahini Shyamal Sarkar said, there is Hara-Gouri Shiv temple at Balichhara in Bhagaban Nagar. The priest of the temple on October 22 last found that the idol of Mahadev was desecrated. Immediately, the priest informed the local people who in turn contacted the Hindu Yuva Bahini. Also, the priest lodged a complaint with Kailashahar Police.
Shyamal Sarkar claimed that the OC of Kailashahar PS assured them that the culprits would be arrested within two days.
“Police promised to act within a couple of days – however, almost four days has elapsed since we lodged a complaint, but no one was arrested, so far”, Sarkar said and added, irked at the failure of Police in nabbing the culprit, Hindu Yuva Vahini along with the local people of Bhagaban Nagar blocked the Kailashahar-Dharmanagar road.
Meanwhile, Kailashahar Police along with a large contingent of TSR jawans and DCM Manash Mura Sing rushed to the spot and held marathon talks with the agitators.
Later, it was decided that an idol of Mahadev would be installed by the administration before Diwali. Besides, the Police administration sought 15 days to take legal actions against the culprits. Agreeing with the proposals of the administration, agitators withdrew the road blockade but warned about intensified agitation if Police fail to take action against the people involved in idol desecration.
