Close on the heels of Amtali incident miscreants once again attacked Trinamool workers and damaged a at Hawaibari area during a joining programme on Sunday evening.
TMC sources said, when the party’s joining programme was going on, a group of miscreants first launched an attack on the vehicle of party’s youth leader Baptu Chakraborty, who also attended the party programme.
The driver of the vehicle and one other party worker were physically assaulted. Both the injured persons were shifted to Teliamura sub-divisional hospital soon after the incident.
Later speaking to the media, Chakraborty held BJP responsible for the whole episode. He alleged that the attack was led by Pradhan of Hawaibari Gram Panchayat- Ranjit Das. According to Chakraborty, he never faced such an attack even during the long communist rule.
TMC’s state steering committee member Ashis Lal Singh in a press conference said two party workers- Prasenjit Chakraborty and Arnab Sen were hospitalized after being attacked by the BJP goons. He said the party’s central leadership were in contact with the state team after the incident.
He said that a five-member team including two women from Agartala was going to attend two party programmes in Teliamura sub-division but police stopped them near Barmura Eco Park and asked them not to move ahead in apprehension of an untoward incident.
On the other hand, Mamun Khan who was injured in the Amtali incident was on Sunday admitted to SSKM, Kolkata for better treatment.
Meanwhile, 252 voters from 61 families joined BJP in presence of MP Sushmita Dev and others at Banamalipur on Sunday.
In the joining programme, Dev said that the party was making preparations including selection of candidates to contest the upcoming polls. She said, based on a survey, candidates for some seats were already finalized and the further process was on.
