In view of the much hyped G 20 Summit to be held in Agartala on April 3 and 4, the state government is planning to utilise the visit of the foreign dignitaries from across the world to optimum level for boosting and promoting the tourism sector in Tripura.

Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday held a high level meeting to explore the areas and review the preparedness for the purpose.

The idea is not only massive beautification of the capital where the Summit will take place but also give face lift to other trourist destinations where the global leaders would be visiting as guests.

In the meeting the minister has said, all important tourist locations of the state are given a face change over to make them attractive and comfortable. Special emphasis is being given to Swachhata -cleanliness and perfections in all the touch ups.

“We want to take this rare opportunity to utilise the most”, he has said and asked the tourism officials to promote the tourism potential – especially on the natural and green eco system which are in abundance in Tripura – to the G-20 delegates”, said Chowdhury in the review meeting.

The environment friendly and green tourism have become all the more important for the fact that not only this tourism does have a strong future after the Covid situation but also for the reason that the theme and agenda of the global summit that is being held in Tripura on April 3 and 4 at Haphania International ground auditorium is “clean energy for greener energy”.

He also spoke about various other matters for the development of the tourist spots. He emphasized on introducing house boat facility in Dumboor Lake, package tours and tea tourism.

He also passed an instruction to the TTDC officials for appointing a brand ambassador for the tourism and setting up food court and cultural stage at Ujjayanta Palace. He also asked the officials concerned to consider a plan for organizing cultural programmes in on every Saturday and Sunday.

Chowdhury also asked the TTDC authority for setting up permanent stores in front of the Ujjayanta Palace for selling traditional dresses.

Secretary of Tourism department U.K. Chakma, director Tapan Kumar Das and joint director Jayanta Debbarma along with other officials were present in the meeting.
