Tripura celebrated Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary with befitting enthusiasm and eclat. Like previous years the main state evel programme was organized at Gandhighat in Agartala where SC Welfare Minister Bhagaban Das hoisted the National Flag and offered floral tributes at Gandhi statue. Later the Minister also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue near Circuit Huouse.
After paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi the minister touched upon the Swachcha Bharat concept and said it the father of the nation’s dream.
Das said, Gandhi had a dream of building a Swachcha Bharat and developing the villages.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to materialize Gandhiji’s dream,” Das said in the programme organized by the Sadar Subdivision administration.
The Information and Cultural Affairs department also held a programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan to observe the Gandhi Jayanti today.
Besides, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Birajit Sinha and other leaders offered tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on this occasion at Congress Bhavan in Agartala.
The Information and Cultural Affairs department observed the 152nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in Dharmanagar on Saturday.
Among others, Bhabatosh Das, Sabhadhipati of North Tripura Zilla Parishad- Chandan Das and Deputy Director of ICA department were present in the programme. On behalf of the department, food items were distributed among the inmates of an old age home.
Along with other parts of the state, Gandhi Jayanti was also held at Kalyanpur Congress office. The guests offered floral tribute to the statue of Gandhiji. At the beginning, Bikram Kishore Sinha, president of Khowai district Congress unit, hoisted the national Flag.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Navoday Sangha of Udaipur has organized a blood donation camp.
MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh inaugurated the programme in presence of Dilip Datta, secretary of Udaipur Press Club, and other dignitaries.
With the initiative of the BJP state unit, a discussion meet on Gandhiji’s life and philosophy was held at Rajarshi Kalakshetra in Udaipur.
BJP Tripura president Dr. Manik Saha and Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Bir Bikram University- Dr. Satyadeo Poddar were present in the event.
A Leprosy Screening and Awareness programme was held at Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital under South Tripura district on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Dr Jagadish Chandra Nama, Chief Medical Officer of South Tripura district, was present in the programme.
Some of the patients suffering from leprosy were felicitated and a discussion on Leprosy was held as part of the programme.
Santirbazar unit of ICA department observed the 152nd birth anniversary of Gandhiji on Saturday.
Abhayananda, Subdivisional Magistrate of Santirbazar inaugurated the programme in presence of other dignitaries.
Gandacherra Information and Cultural Affairs department organized a programme to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandachhara Higher Secondary School. The programme was inaugurated by Aditya Sarkar, a social activist.
