Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey today called for greater participation of women in financial decision-making and investment.
Addressing the AMFI-Pinkathon Investor Awareness Programme during World Investor Week 2026, Pandey said financial independence meant not only earning but also having the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions. He said women account for around 25 per cent of capital market participation and 27 per cent of individual mutual fund investors.
There are now more than 1.6 crore women mutual fund investors in India. Pandey highlighted SEBI’s Project Jagrook, aimed at expanding investor education through multiple platforms and languages. He said its WhatsApp campaign had delivered over 24 crore messages in three days. He urged women to take small, informed and consistent steps towards financial well-being.
