The Indian film industry is mourning the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, with Tamil cinema legend Kamal Haasan, actor-politician Pawan Kalyan and Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi paying tribute to the acclaimed performer and remembering his lasting contribution to cinema and society. Nana Patekar passed away at the age of 75 in Goa on Thursday.
The three actors remembered Patekar not only for his remarkable acting career but also for his social service, concern for farmers and contribution to the nation, including his volunteer service during the Kargil War.
Kamal Haasan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared a throwback photograph with the late actor. In his tribute, Haasan described Patekar as an extraordinary artist and a great human being. He recalled the actor’s work beyond cinema, particularly his efforts to support farmers in Maharashtra and his volunteer service during the Kargil War.
Haasan said Patekar had a deep sense of duty and had a significant influence on the lives of people around him. He also expressed his condolences to Patekar’s family and his numerous admirers.
Chiranjeevi also paid tribute to the veteran actor by sharing a solo throwback picture. He remembered Patekar for his powerful screen presence and distinctive artistic journey, which left a lasting impression on Indian cinema.
In his message, Chiranjeevi highlighted Patekar’s compassion towards farmers and his efforts through his foundation to assist people in need. He described the late actor’s legacy as one that combined art and humanity, while extending his condolences to Patekar’s family, loved ones and fans.

Patekar was one of the most respected performers in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He made his Hindi film debut with Gaman in 1978 and subsequently built a distinguished career through critically acclaimed and commercially successful performances.

According to an official confirmation from Manipal Hospital, Goa, Patekar was found unconscious at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, and was taken to the hospital. Doctors subsequently declared him brought dead.
The tributes from Kamal Haasan, Pawan Kalyan and Chiranjeevi reflected the widespread respect Patekar commanded not only as an actor but also for his humanitarian efforts.
