Assam Rifles Public School students from Agartala and Udaipur met Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma during an educational tour under the Know Your India initiative. The students visited Mumbai Film City and explored Maharashtra’s history, culture, governance and entertainment industry.

Students from Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Agartala and Udaipur, accompanied by their teachers and Assam Rifles personnel, met Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai as part of their educational tour under the “Know Your India” initiative.

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, who previously served as Tripura’s Deputy Chief Minister, warmly welcomed the students during their interaction and spoke about the importance of understanding India’s cultural and historical diversity. He encouraged the students to explore Maharashtra’s rich traditions, history and cultural heritage while pursuing their studies with dedication.

During the interaction, Governor Dev Varma advised the students to remain connected with their roots and contribute positively to the nation. He highlighted the importance of educational exposure beyond the classroom and encouraged the young participants to learn through direct experiences.

Recognising the value of experiential learning, the Governor directed his office to facilitate a visit by the students to Mumbai Film City and arrange an interaction with Bollywood personalities. The initiative provided the students with an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to India’s entertainment industry and understand the creative processes behind film and television production.

As part of their Mumbai itinerary, the students visited Film City on a guided tour. They observed various aspects of the functioning of one of India’s prominent film and television production hubs. The visit introduced them to filmmaking processes and offered insights into the creative ecosystem associated with the country’s entertainment sector.

The “Know Your India” initiative is aimed at providing students with exposure to India’s diverse cultural, institutional and social heritage. Such educational tours are designed to strengthen awareness of the country’s unity in diversity while helping students develop confidence and a broader understanding of different regions and communities.

Governor Dev Varma also appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in facilitating the educational exposure for the students. He noted the importance of initiatives that allow young people to learn about India’s traditions, institutions and cultural diversity through direct interaction and experience.

The students expressed their gratitude to Governor Dev Varma for the warm reception and the opportunities provided during their visit. They described the interaction at Lok Bhavan and the Film City tour as memorable and inspiring experiences.
