Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb called upon the Banks operating in the state to extend all out support for completion of te development and welfare projects in time, especially the priority sectors.  

“I would request you to draw your plans in coordination with the state government agencies so that the government’s priority sectors can have financial support from your end”, said te Chief Minister while addressing the 136th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting at the civil secretariat on Wednesday.

Deb said that his government was working with highest priority on the primary sectors like agriculture, rubber, tea, fisheries and animal husbandry. The banks need to come forward to make the people involved in such sectors financially strong.

The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of implementation of the decision taken in the last SLBC meeting.

“The state government’s aim is to reduce NPA and increase CD ratio of the banks,” the Chief Minister said and asked the banks to take loan delivery programme in the sectors where the loan facility is available. He also stressed on simplifying the process so that the people don’t face any harassment in availing loans. 

Taking part in the discussion, DGM of Punjab National Bank- Anand Kumar said the banks had set a target for 100 percent disbursement in the primary and other sectors in 2021-22 under Annual Credit Plan.

He informed the meeting that the banks had already disbursed Rs. 1518.24 crore in primary sectors including agriculture, micro, small and medium industries till June in the current year.

As many as 15,805 farmers (KCC card holders) were brought under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the Khariff season of the current year, the DGM said, adding that loans of 998 Self Help Groups were sanctioned till June in the Financial Year 2021-22.

Chief Secretary Kumar Alok, Principal Secretary (Health) J.K. Sinha, Secretary of urban Development department- Kiran Gitte, Secretary of Rural Development department- Saumya Gupta, Secretary of Finance- Brijesh Pandey, General Manager of Reserve Bank of India’s Agartala branch- Tamal Sinha, DGM of NABARD- Anil Purohit, General Manager of Punjab National Bank- Shakshi Gopal Saha and officials of many other departments were present in the SLBC meeting.
