Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha said Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya continues to inspire inclusive development, welfare of people at the last mile and efforts towards building a self-reliant and equitable society in Tripura.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday said Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s life, philosophy and vision continue to inspire efforts towards building an inclusive society based on Integral Humanism and the principle of Antyodaya.
Dr Saha made the remarks while addressing a state-level programme organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. The programme brought together public representatives, officials, local corporators, party workers, supporters and members of the public.
The Chief Minister said Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Integral Humanism remains relevant in efforts to ensure the overall development of society. According to Dr Saha, Upadhyaya’s vision placed emphasis on the welfare and development of people at the last mile, with the concept of Antyodaya continuing to serve as an important source of inspiration.
“Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya ji means the great philosophy of Integral Humanism,” Dr Saha said in his address. He added that the path of Antyodaya, which focuses on the development and welfare of people living at the last end of society, continues to inspire efforts towards social welfare.
The Chief Minister said the state government was working with Upadhyaya’s ideals and philosophy as a guiding reference for the holistic development of every section of society. He stressed the objective of creating a society based on equality, self-reliance and human values.
The programme began with dignitaries offering floral tributes to the portrait of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Among those present were Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, ICA Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya, local corporators and other dignitaries.
Recalling different aspects of Upadhyaya’s life and contribution, Dr Saha described him as a thinker and philosopher whose ideas influenced discussions on Indian society, culture and the improvement of people’s lives. He also highlighted Upadhyaya’s emphasis on ensuring that development reaches sections of society that remain at the margins.
The Chief Minister said the principle of Antyodaya places the welfare of people at the last mile at the centre of development efforts. He said the philosophy remains relevant in the context of efforts to extend development opportunities and welfare benefits to disadvantaged sections of society.
Dr Saha further said that the ideals of Upadhyaya could continue to provide inspiration for public welfare initiatives and for efforts aimed at ensuring balanced development. He emphasised the need for the benefits of development to reach people across different sections of society.
Speakers at the programme also recalled Upadhyaya’s simple lifestyle, patriotism and organisational abilities. His thoughts on the advancement and welfare of disadvantaged sections were also highlighted during the commemorative programme.
The birth anniversary event served as an occasion to remember Upadhyaya’s contribution to public life and social thought. Through floral tributes and commemorative proceedings, the gathering paid homage to the late thinker and recalled his ideas on Integral Humanism and Antyodaya.
Dr Saha said that drawing inspiration from Upadhyaya’s philosophy, efforts should continue towards the comprehensive development of every section of society. He underlined the importance of building a society where development and welfare remain focused on people at the last mile.
The state-level programme in Agartala was organised as part of the observance of Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary in Tripura. Similar commemorative programmes were also held in the state to remember his life and contribution.

The Chief Minister’s remarks at Muktadhara Auditorium therefore centred on the continuing relevance of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya, particularly in the context of inclusive development and public welfare.
