Pop superstar Taylor Swift has announced a new release titled ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’, featuring four previously unreleased songs connected to her 2025 album, The Life of a Showgirl. The singer-songwriter shared the announcement with fans on Wednesday through Instagram, revealing the album artwork and reflecting on the remarkable response to the original record.
In a lengthy caption accompanying the album cover, Swift looked back on the journey of The Life of a Showgirl and expressed gratitude for the support she received from listeners. She recalled the album’s record-breaking first week and described how the success inspired her and collaborators Max Martin and Shellback to create more music.
Swift said that about a year ago, fans helped The Life of a Showgirl achieve what she described as an extraordinary first-week performance for an album. Following the milestone, she travelled to Sweden to celebrate with Martin and Shellback, who collaborated with her on the album.
According to Swift, the trip was initially intended as an opportunity for the collaborators to reflect on the achievement and appreciate the moment. However, with a recording studio available, the trio returned to songwriting and created additional material.
“We wrote more songs,” Swift said while explaining the origins of the four new tracks. She added that the songs were created out of gratitude for the enthusiasm and celebration surrounding The Life of a Showgirl.
Swift announced that ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’ will include four new songs and is scheduled for release on Friday. The new edition is also available for pre-order and pre-save ahead of its release.
The singer did not provide further details about the individual titles of the four songs in the announcement. She also turned off comments on the Instagram post, meaning followers were unable to publicly respond directly beneath the announcement.
The new release follows the major commercial success of The Life of a Showgirl, which was released on October 3, 2025. According to Luminate figures cited in the report, the album opened with 4.002 million album-equivalent units in the United States, marking the biggest first-week total for an album in the modern tracking era.
The opening-week figure included approximately 3.4795 million pure album sales and 522,600 streaming-equivalent units. The album also generated about 680.9 million on-demand streams during its opening week, contributing to its historic debut.
The Life of a Showgirl entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1, becoming Swift’s 15th album to reach the top position on the chart. The album also recorded a major vinyl milestone, selling approximately 1.334 million vinyl copies during its opening week.

With The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, Swift is now set to expand the project with four additional songs.
