Assam Rifles showcased its weapons, equipment and operational preparedness in Agartala, giving NCC cadets first-hand exposure to its capabilities while highlighting the force’s role in Northeast security, youth engagement, nation-building and encouraging careers in the Armed Forces.
The Assam Rifles on Friday organised a weapons and equipment display at Saheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala, showcasing its operational preparedness, capabilities and role in safeguarding the nation and maintaining security across the Northeast.
The event was organised for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets as part of the Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to create greater awareness among young people about the force, its responsibilities and the specialised equipment used during various operational duties.
According to a defence spokesman, the display provided NCC cadets with an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of a range of weapons, equipment and specialised systems employed by the Assam Rifles. The initiative was aimed at giving the participants a better understanding of the capabilities and operational preparedness of the force.
The cadets participated enthusiastically in the programme and interacted with Assam Rifles personnel during the display. They asked questions about the capabilities, employment and operational significance of the weapons and equipment showcased at the venue. The interaction allowed the young participants to learn more about the professional requirements and responsibilities associated with service in the Armed Forces.
The defence spokesman said that such programmes also serve as an important platform for motivating and inspiring young people to consider careers in the Armed Forces and the Assam Rifles. A senior official said that the Assam Rifles maintains constant vigilance over activities involving insurgent groups. According to the official, insurgent cadres can operate across state boundaries to evade local police and security agencies, while different groups may maintain links and provide shelter to one another.
The official emphasised the importance of a strong intelligence network in identifying and tracking such activities. Intelligence gathering, according to the official, remains essential for security forces seeking to monitor movements and networks that operate across different jurisdictions.
