Tripura Commission for Women, supported by NCW, hosted the Yashodha AI awareness seminar in Agartala, equipping students, civil servants, and grassroots workers with vital digital skills, self-employment tools, and ethical artificial intelligence practices to accelerate women empowerment.

In a major push to bridge the gender divide within the digital economy, the Tripura Commission for Women (TCW), operating under the aegis of the National Commission for Women (NCW), organized an intensive awareness and skill-building seminar centered on Artificial Intelligence in Agartala.

Titled the “Awareness cum Training Programme on Yashodha AI,” the state-level initiative gathered a diverse assembly of participants, including female representatives from various government departments, students from higher education institutions, and female workers from the unorganized sector. The core objective was straightforward: demystify advanced computing tools and convert technological literacy into tangible financial independence.

Addressing the gathering at a local venue, Tripura State Commission for Women Chairperson Jharna Debbarma emphasized that artificial intelligence represents the frontier of information technology and serves as an indispensable tool for women’s socio-economic upliftment when leveraged rationally.

“AI can play an important role in women’s empowerment if used rationally and properly,” Debbarma noted during her address. “Women must actively acquire knowledge regarding emerging technological systems. Gaining these relevant proficiencies will unlock fresh pathways for structured employment and home-based self-employment. This seminar ensures that grassroots stakeholders do not get left behind as automated technologies expand.”

Debbarma pointed out that AI-driven remote workflows offer flexible opportunities, permitting women to generate sustainable livelihoods without being forced to compromise familial responsibilities or leave their local communities.

Throughout the interactive sessions, two domain experts guided attendees through practical use cases of AI in modern trade, administration, and digital communications. The curriculum focused heavily on the ethical dimensions of technology adoption, addressing critical concerns such as data privacy, responsible algorithmic application, and the prevention of digital misuse.

The initiative operates under the national banner of “YASHODA AI,” a flagship campaign pioneered by the NCW to foster digital inclusion. By translating intricate technical mechanisms into accessible strategies for entrepreneurship, education, and daily productivity, the project aims to turn AI from an intimidating hurdle into a practical asset for women nationwide. Organizers affirmed that sustained regional workshops will follow to maintain momentum across Tripura.
