Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) logo reaches Mount Aconcagua as mountaineer Aritra Roy carries the identity of SHG women to the summit, symbolising determination, empowerment and the aspirations of thousands of ‘SHG Didis’ across Tripura.
The dreams, aspirations and determination of thousands of women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) in Tripura reached one of the world’s highest mountain peaks when noted mountaineer Aritra Roy carried and proudly displayed the logo of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) atop Mount Aconcagua in Argentina.
Roy flew the TRLM logo at the summit of Mount Aconcagua in January this year, transforming his mountaineering expedition into a symbolic message of ambition, empowerment and determination for women associated with SHGs across the state. The initiative highlighted the idea that the aspirations of Tripura’s ‘SHG Didis’ can reach heights beyond geographical and social boundaries.
Mount Aconcagua, located in the Andes mountain range in Argentina’s Mendoza Province near the Chilean border, is the highest mountain in the Americas. Rising to an elevation of 6,961 metres (22,838 feet), it is also the highest mountain outside Asia. The mountain is considered one of the most prominent high-altitude climbing destinations in the world.
The achievement was highlighted by TRLM through its official social media platform, where the mission expressed gratitude to Aritra Roy for carrying its identity and the aspirations of Tripura’s SHG community to the summit.
“From the hills of Tripura to the heights of Aconcagua and Everest,” TRLM said, underlining the continuing spirit of “Soaring High” among the people of the state.
According to TRLM, the display of its logo at the summit represented much more than a mountaineering accomplishment. It symbolised the dreams and aspirations of thousands of women who are associated with self-help groups and are contributing to rural livelihoods and community development across Tripura.

The mission described the moment as a powerful message that there should be no limits to what women can aspire to achieve. By taking the TRLM identity to the summit, Roy helped connect the achievements of Tripura’s SHG women with a globally recognised mountaineering milestone.
Aritra Roy has already created a significant place in Tripura’s mountaineering history. He became the first person from the state to scale Mount Everest last year. His achievement has since emerged as an inspiration for young people and communities across Tripura, particularly those seeking to overcome challenges and pursue ambitious goals.
The Aconcagua expedition has added another symbolic dimension to Roy’s achievements. While Mount Everest remains the world’s highest mountain above sea level, Aconcagua is the highest peak in the Americas and outside Asia. Carrying the TRLM logo to its summit therefore provided an opportunity to showcase Tripura’s aspirations on an international platform.
The TRLM initiative also reflects the growing visibility of SHG women in the state’s rural development narrative. Through self-help groups and livelihood-oriented activities, women have increasingly become associated with efforts aimed at improving household incomes, entrepreneurship and community participation.
The image of the TRLM logo flying high on Aconcagua consequently carries a broader message of confidence and possibility. For the SHG Didis of Tripura, the expedition was presented as a reminder that determination can help people cross boundaries and reach new heights.
TRLM thanked Roy for carrying both its logo and the aspirations of the state’s SHG community to the summit. The mission emphasised that the journey from the hills of Tripura to Aconcagua and Everest reflects a spirit of perseverance and ambition.

The achievement has thus become a symbolic celebration of both mountaineering and women’s aspirations, reinforcing TRLM’s message of “Soaring High” and encouraging SHG women and young people in Tripura to continue dreaming, striving and achieving greater milestones.
