Sayak Biswas of Khowai Government English Medium Higher Secondary School became Khowai district topper in the 2026 CBSE Class X examination after review, improving his score from 90.2% to 97.2%. Three other students also recorded significant improvements after mark revision.
Sayak Biswas of Khowai Government English Medium Higher Secondary School has emerged as the district topper among CBSE Class X students in Khowai after a review of his examination marks raised his overall score from 90.2 per cent to an impressive 97.2 per cent.
Sayak had initially received 90.2 per cent in the 2026 CBSE Class X examination. Although the result was good, the score fell significantly short of what he had expected based on his performance in the examination. Confident that he had performed better, Sayak decided to seek a review rather than accept the unexpected marks.
With the support and assistance of school teacher Roxon Das, Sayak applied for a review of his marks in English and Social Science. The revised result brought a substantial increase in both subjects. Following the review, his overall percentage rose by seven percentage points to 97.2 per cent.
The improvement placed Sayak at the top of the CBSE Class X results in Khowai district, marking a significant academic achievement for the student and his school.
The revised result has brought considerable happiness to Sayak and his family. Teachers and staff members of Khowai Government English Medium Higher Secondary School also expressed their satisfaction over the achievement and appreciated his confidence in seeking a review of the marks.
School authorities said Sayak’s success could serve as an encouragement for other students who may face unexpected examination results. His decision to have his answer sheets reviewed, based on his confidence in his performance, highlighted the importance of perseverance and determination in academic pursuits.
The review process also benefited three other students from the school. Diya Banik improved her score to 97 per cent, while Srija Debnath Bhowmik and Promibha Roy secured 94 per cent each following the revision of their marks.

Sayak’s achievement has therefore emerged not only as a notable academic success but also as an example of self-confidence.
