Tamil actor Prabhu begins shooting for his upcoming thriller-comedy directed by Franklin Jacob. Vijay Varma and Shivathmika Rajashekar lead the cast, with Yuvan Shankar Raja composing music for Romeo Pictures’ latest production.

Popular Tamil actor Prabhu has begun shooting for his upcoming film, marking a new collaboration with director Franklin Jacob. The yet-to-be-titled project, produced by Raahul under Romeo Pictures in association with Gokul Srinivasan’s Aviate Pictures, is being planned as a thriller-comedy with elements of dark humour and a distinctive storyline.

Franklin Jacob has previously earned recognition for his writing work, including his association with the Lokesh Kanakaraj-directed project ‘DC’. His latest directorial venture brings together veteran performer Prabhu and a younger generation of actors in a film that is expected to offer a different cinematic experience.

Producer Raahul announced the commencement of the shoot on Monday through his X timeline. Sharing his excitement about the project, he wrote, “Lights, camera, and lots of action. #RomeoPictures11 shoot commences today #IlayaThilagamPrabhu.” The announcement officially marked the beginning of production for the much-anticipated project.

According to sources close to the film unit, Prabhu will be seen alongside actor Vijay Varma, who is set to play a lead role. Actress Shivathmika Rajashekar has been brought on board as the female lead. Producer Raahul will also appear in a pivotal role, adding another dimension to the ensemble cast.

The film is said to explore dark humour within a thriller-comedy framework. Sources indicate that the makers are attempting to present a unique storyline rather than follow a conventional genre formula. The combination of suspense, comedy and dark humour is expected to be one of the major attractions of the project.

The launch event also witnessed the presence of Vikram Prabhu, son of actor Prabhu, and filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran. The two reportedly met the cast and crew and conveyed their best wishes to the team as production got underway.

Besides Prabhu, Vijay Varma and Shivathmika Rajashekar, the film features several familiar names in important roles. The cast includes Muthukumar, Ramesh Thilak, Dileep Subbarayan, Dheena, Arun Matheswaran, Kavitha Bharathi and Avinash Ragudevan.

The technical team brings together several experienced names from the Tamil film industry. Music for the film will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while Pradeep Kaliraja will handle cinematography. G K Prasanna is responsible for editing, with PC Stunts choreographing the action sequences.

Yugabharathi will write the lyrics for the film’s songs, while Naushad Ahmed has been assigned costume design. Sakthi Venkatraj will oversee the art direction, completing a technical crew that combines established talent across different departments.

For Prabhu, the project represents another opportunity to work with a contemporary filmmaking team while taking on a story that differs from conventional commercial narratives. The actor, who is the son of legendary Tamil cinema icon Sivaji Ganesan, has continued to remain active across a wide range of films.

The collaboration between Prabhu, Vijay Varma, Shivathmika Rajashekar and Franklin Jacob has generated interest because of the unusual combination of performers and the film’s reported dark humour-thriller format. With production now underway, further details regarding the title, storyline and release plans are expected to be announced by the makers in due course.
