In the BWF Badminton World Championships, ace shuttler India’s Lakshya Sen will face Austria’s Collins Filimon in the men’s singles first round at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi this evening. While Debutant Unnati Hooda will take on Myanmar’s Thet Htar Thuzar in the women’s singles first round.
In the mixed doubles first round, India’s Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde faced a defeat against the Canadian pair of Jonathan Lai and Crystal Lai. After winning the first game by 22-20, the Indian duo lost the next two games by 19-21, 17-21.
Meanwhile, Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh will take on Turkey’s Emre Sonmez and Yasemen Bektas in another mixed doubles event. In the second round of women’s doubles, the Indian pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will face the United States’ Lauren Lam and Allison Lee. India’s Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi will take on Bulgaria’s Stefani Stoeva and Gabriela Stoeva.
