Tanisha Santoshi shares unseen behind-the-scenes pictures of Rajkumar Santoshi with Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and other Bollywood stars from iconic films Khakee and Andaz Apna Apna, while reflecting on her father’s filmmaking journey, his bond with Sunny Deol and the humanistic message of their upcoming film Batwara 1947.

Rajkumar Santoshi’s daughter Tanisha Santoshi recently took a nostalgic trip through her father’s celebrated filmmaking career, sharing a collection of rare behind-the-scenes pictures featuring some of Bollywood’s biggest stars. The unseen photographs offer fans a glimpse into the making of several memorable films, including Andaz Apna Apna and Khakee, while highlighting Santoshi’s long-standing associations with actors such as Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Sunny Deol.

Tanisha shared the throwback pictures on Monday, giving followers an intimate look at moments captured behind the camera during some of Rajkumar Santoshi’s most significant projects. The carousel reflects the filmmaker’s journey across different genres and decades, from his early collaborations with Sunny Deol to his work with some of the biggest names in Hindi cinema.

One of the most recognisable photographs in the collection comes from the sets of Andaz Apna Apna. The black-and-white behind-the-scenes image features Rajkumar Santoshi alongside Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor, with the filmmaker holding the film’s clapboard. Released in 1994, Andaz Apna Apna also starred Aamir Khan and Raveena Tandon and gradually developed a cult following among Bollywood audiences.

Another memorable photograph offers a glimpse from Khakee, the 2004 action thriller directed and written by Santoshi. The film featured an ensemble cast led by Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The project remains one of the notable films from the later phase of Santoshi’s career.

The carousel also revisits Santoshi’s earlier filmmaking years and his association with Sunny Deol. Tanisha highlighted the special significance of their renewed collaboration through Batwara 1947. Her post also acknowledged Dharmendra’s important contribution to her father’s early career. Dharmendra produced Ghayal, Santoshi’s 1990 directorial debut, as well as Barsaat.

Rajkumar Santoshi made his directorial debut with Ghayal and subsequently directed a wide range of films, including Damini, Andaz Apna Apna, Barsaat, Ghatak, China Gate, Pukar, Lajja, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Khakee. His filmography has been marked by frequent shifts in genre and storytelling style.

Reflecting on her father’s career, Tanisha wrote about the significance of his reunion with Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. She described their earlier films as unforgettable and said their latest collaboration explores a subject that encourages audiences to think about society, division and humanity.

Tanisha also expressed her belief that Batwara 1947 is particularly relevant in 2026 because its central theme extends beyond borders and focuses on human relationships. According to her, the film explores the idea of people choosing to see one another as human beings despite circumstances marked by hatred and division.

She further praised her father for continuing to take creative risks and explore different genres throughout his career. For Tanisha, what remains consistent across his films is his ability to connect with audiences, entertain them and bring human emotion into large-scale stories.

Calling herself a proud daughter, Tanisha said she feels fortunate to witness Santoshi continue challenging himself as a filmmaker. Her emotional tribute accompanied the rare photographs, turning the social media post into both a celebration of Bollywood history and a personal reflection on her father’s creative journey.
