Five Tripura Police personnel, including SP Amitabh Pal, receive the Medal for Meritorious Service on Independence Day, recognising dedication, distinguished service, professionalism and commitment to public safety and law enforcement.

Five personnel of the Tripura Police have been selected for the prestigious Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) as part of the Independence Day honours announced by the Centre, bringing national recognition to the state’s police force.

The awardees include SP Amitabh Pal, Havildar Shishuranjan Chowdhury, Subedar Sanjib Patra, Naik Md. Moharram Ali, and Constable Mrinal Debbarma. Their names figure in the state-wise list of recipients released by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The annual honours recognise personnel serving in police, fire services, home guards, civil defence and correctional services across the country.

The Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to officers and personnel who have demonstrated sustained dedication, devotion to duty and distinguished service. The recognition is considered an important acknowledgement of individuals who have consistently contributed to public safety, law enforcement and the effective functioning of their respective departments.

For Tripura, the selection of five police personnel for the honour is being viewed as a significant achievement and a moment of pride. The recognition reflects the continued efforts of the state police force in maintaining law and order and serving communities under challenging circumstances.

The recipients represent different levels of the police hierarchy, ranging from senior leadership to frontline personnel. Their selection highlights the importance of teamwork and dedicated service across every rank of the force. While senior officers play key roles in administration and policing strategies, personnel at the operational level remain directly involved in maintaining security and responding to public needs.

The announcement ahead of Independence Day has also brought encouragement to the wider police fraternity in Tripura. Officials believe that such national recognition can strengthen morale and inspire personnel to maintain higher standards of professionalism, discipline and commitment.

The honours also serve as a reminder of the demanding responsibilities shouldered by police personnel throughout the year. From maintaining public order to responding to emergencies and safeguarding communities, police personnel often perform their duties in difficult and unpredictable conditions.

The recognition of Amitabh Pal, Shishuranjan Chowdhury, Sanjib Patra, Md. Moharram Ali and Mrinal Debbarma therefore represents more than an individual achievement. It acknowledges their contribution to the larger mission of public service and reflects the dedication of Tripura Police to its responsibilities.
