Tripura will join the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 9 to 17, 2026, featuring rallies, exhibitions, Tiranga concerts, SHG-made national flags, and patriotic events across the state as Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha urges citizens to participate wholeheartedly.
Tripura is all set to join the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 9 to August 17, 2026, as part of the national initiative under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022. The state government has planned a series of patriotic programmes, including rallies, exhibitions, cultural performances, and awareness activities to encourage every citizen to proudly hoist the National Flag and strengthen their emotional connection with the Tricolour.
Addressing a press conference in Agartala, Chief Minister’s Secretary and Information & Cultural Affairs (ICA) Secretary Kiran Gitte announced that Tripura will celebrate the fifth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign with extensive participation from citizens, educational institutions, youth organisations, self-help groups (SHGs), clubs, non-governmental organisations, and local bodies.
Gitte said the campaign has been designed to inspire patriotism, honour the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, and deepen respect for the National Flag. He noted that this year’s celebrations would also commemorate the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” adding a special historical significance to the nationwide programme.
“The objective of Har Ghar Tiranga is to encourage every citizen to hoist the National Flag at their residence and develop a personal connection with the Tricolour while remembering the immense sacrifices made by the country’s freedom fighters,” Gitte said.
The week-long celebrations across Tripura will include Tiranga rallies, exhibitions, Tiranga concerts, bike rallies, cycle rallies, tri-colour lighting, decorative programmes, Rangoli competitions, Tiranga Salute events, and the popular ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ campaign. Similar activities will be organised across all districts, subdivisions, blocks, panchayats, and urban local bodies to ensure widespread public participation.
As part of the campaign, the National Flag will be hoisted at households, government offices, educational institutions, and other public establishments throughout the celebration period. Officials stated that due to the large-scale procurement of National Flags over the past several years, the state has nearly achieved saturation in availability.
However, to meet any additional demand during this year’s campaign, district administrations have engaged Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in manufacturing National Flags. The government has also revised the prices of the flags to encourage SHG participation and strengthen local livelihoods.
Gitte appealed to the people of Tripura to purchase National Flags from SHG-operated stalls established across various districts, saying the initiative would not only support local women-led groups but also contribute to the success of the campaign.
A major highlight of the celebrations will be the state-level Har Ghar Tiranga Rally, scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM on August 11 from the historic Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will formally flag off the rally, which will pass through several prominent locations of the city before concluding at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
Following the rally, a Tiranga Exhibition showcasing the history and significance of the National Flag, along with a Tiranga Concert featuring patriotic performances, will be organised at the venue. Similar cultural programmes and awareness campaigns will also be held simultaneously in every district headquarters across Tripura.
The ICA Secretary said that students, youth organisations, clubs, educational institutions, and NGOs would play an active role in the campaign to ensure its success. He expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of government departments and civil society would make this year’s Har Ghar Tiranga celebrations more impactful than previous editions.
Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, was also present during the press conference and highlighted the department’s preparations to conduct the campaign smoothly across the state.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha issued a heartfelt appeal to the people of Tripura through a video message, urging them to actively participate in the nationwide initiative.
Describing Har Ghar Tiranga as a symbol of patriotism and national unity, the Chief Minister said the campaign provides an opportunity for every citizen to reaffirm their love for the country and honour the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.
“The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is a matter of pride for every Indian. It reflects our patriotic values, national consciousness, and our deepest respect for the brave freedom fighters and martyrs who dedicated their lives to the nation,” Dr. Saha said.
He emphasised that every citizen shares the responsibility of preserving the dignity and honour of the National Flag.
“The Tricolour represents our nation’s pride, unity, and patriotism. It is our duty to uphold its dignity and inspire future generations to cherish the values for which our freedom fighters struggled,” he added.

The Chief Minister further appealed to district administrations, subdivisions, the Agartala Municipal Corporation, urban local bodies, blocks, gram panchayats, and village committees to work collectively to ensure the successful implementation of the campaign across every corner of the state.
Concluding his message, Dr. Saha called upon people from all walks of life to enthusiastically participate in the celebrations, hoist the National Flag with pride, and spread the spirit of unity and patriotism throughout Tripura. Ending his appeal with the slogan “Jai Hind,” the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the state would once again contribute significantly to the nationwide success of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
