The Opposition staged a protest march in Parliament over alleged Jantar Mantar police action and the Ram Temple donation controversy. Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, and other MPs demanded accountability, while repeated disruptions led to Lok Sabha adjournments during the Monsoon Session.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament witnessed fresh political confrontation on Wednesday as Opposition leaders, led by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, staged a protest march within the Parliament premises over the alleged police action against protesters at Jantar Mantar and the controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in donations made to the Ayodhya Ram Temple.
The protest began from the Gandhi statue at Prerna Sthal and concluded at Makar Dwar inside the Parliament complex. Several Members of Parliament from various Opposition parties joined the demonstration, carrying placards and raising slogans demanding accountability from the government on multiple issues, including the alleged use of force against protesters and concerns over the handling of Ram Temple donations.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra strongly criticized the alleged police action, stating that India is a democratic nation where citizens have the right to protest peacefully. Addressing reporters outside Parliament, she asserted that those responsible for ordering the alleged use of pellet guns, tear gas, and lathi charges against protesters must be held accountable.
“This is a democracy, not a dictatorship. It is not anyone’s royal court. If children have been fired upon, if pellet guns, tear gas, and lathi-charge have been used, then someone must be held accountable. Someone would have given those orders, and they must take responsibility,” Priyanka Gandhi said while reiterating the Opposition’s demand for transparency and justice.
The Opposition also raised questions regarding the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement controversy, seeking a detailed explanation from the government. Congress leaders alleged that the matter deserves a thorough investigation and demanded that Parliament discuss the issue in detail during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
Inside the Lok Sabha, proceedings were once again disrupted as Opposition members continued raising slogans during Question Hour. The disruptions marked the third consecutive day of protests in the Lower House this week.
Speaker Om Birla repeatedly urged members to maintain parliamentary decorum and requested them not to display posters or placards inside the House. Despite several appeals from the Chair, Opposition MPs continued their protests, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House until 2 p.m. after normal business could not be conducted.
The latest disruptions follow similar scenes witnessed earlier in the week, when Opposition parties demanded a discussion on the alleged police action at Jantar Mantar and sought answers regarding the Ram Temple donation controversy. Demonstrations by Opposition leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi, were also held ahead of the commencement of parliamentary proceedings, highlighting their continued focus on the two issues.

The government has maintained its legislative agenda despite repeated interruptions, while the Opposition insists that matters concerning public accountability and alleged misuse of authority must be debated in Parliament before other business proceeds. With both sides holding firm to their positions, the Monsoon Session continues to witness repeated adjournments and heightened political exchanges, reflecting the growing confrontation between the treasury benches and the Opposition over issues they describe as being of significant public importance.
