Mumbai is set to witness one of India’s most significant youth gatherings as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat prepares to interact with thousands of Gen Z and Gen Alpha students during the inaugural ceremony of the India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (I.I.M.U.N.) Annual Championship Conference on August 6. The event, to be held at the prestigious Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), will also mark the beginning of I.I.M.U.N.’s 15th anniversary celebrations.
The conference is expected to bring together more than 2,000 students aged between 15 and 19 from schools and colleges representing over 100 cities across India. Organisers describe it as one of the world’s largest youth-led conferences, offering a platform for young minds to exchange ideas, discuss pressing issues, and explore leadership opportunities.
This year’s conference revolves around the theme, “The Role of Youth in Uniting the World, the Indian Way,” focusing on how India’s younger generation can contribute to democracy, nation-building, and global harmony. The interaction with Dr. Mohan Bhagwat is expected to encourage students to engage in meaningful discussions on leadership, civic responsibility, and India’s future.
Speaking about the significance of the event, I.I.M.U.N. Founder Rishabh Shah said the dialogue comes at a crucial stage in India’s development. He emphasized that leadership is not only about guiding future generations but also about listening to their ideas and aspirations. Shah expressed gratitude to Dr. Bhagwat for accepting the invitation and participating in a conversation that aims to inspire young people across the country.
The Annual Championship Conference serves as the flagship programme of I.I.M.U.N., where students actively debate and deliberate on issues of local, national, and international importance. Throughout the year, the organisation conducts 108 conferences along with thousands of civic engagement programmes entirely led by youth aged between 15 and 24 years, reaching students in the 11 to 19 age group.
Since its establishment in 2011, I.I.M.U.N. has emerged as one of India’s largest youth-driven public affairs platforms. Over the past 15 years, the organisation has expanded its presence across 275 cities in India and 40 countries worldwide. According to the organisation, it has impacted more than 7.5 crore young people while collaborating with nearly 1.5 lakh schools and colleges.
The organisation’s Advisory Board includes several distinguished personalities from diverse fields, including industrialists Ajay Piramal, Deepak Parekh, and Nadir Godrej, parliamentarian Dr. Shashi Tharoor, former Chief Justice of India Justice D. Y. Chandrachud, filmmaker Karan Johar, legendary athlete P. T. Usha, and former Chiefs of the Armed Forces. Their collective guidance has strengthened the platform’s objective of promoting civic engagement and responsible leadership among youth.
Over the years, I.I.M.U.N. has hosted 32 Heads of State, Nobel Laureates, Academy Award winners, and more than 34,000 eminent speakers. Many of its former participants have gone on to become elected representatives, civil servants, entrepreneurs, lawyers, authors, actors, and business leaders, reflecting the organisation’s long-term impact on leadership development.
The participation of RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat is expected to add further significance to this year’s conference, bringing national attention to discussions surrounding youth empowerment and democratic participation. His address is anticipated to encourage students to think critically about their role in shaping India’s future while fostering dialogue on values, leadership, and social responsibility.
