VP Radhakrishnan, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and BJP President Nitin Nabin paid heartfelt tributes to Pingali Venkayya on his birth anniversary, honoring the architect of India’s National Flag and celebrating his enduring legacy in the freedom movement and nation-building.
The nation on Sunday paid glowing tributes to Pingali Venkayya, the visionary freedom fighter who conceptualised the design of India’s National Flag, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan led the tributes, joined by Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from various states, and BJP President Nitin Nabin, all remembering Venkayya’s invaluable contribution to India’s freedom movement and his enduring legacy as the architect of the Tricolour.
Paying homage through a post on X, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan described Pingali Venkayya as an eminent freedom fighter, a true Gandhian, and the architect of India’s National Flag. He said Venkayya’s remarkable contribution had left an indelible mark on the nation’s history and continues to inspire generations of Indians.
The Vice President stated that as the Tricolour continues to unite every Indian with pride, the nation remembers Pingali Venkayya’s selfless service and enduring legacy with deep respect. His message highlighted the emotional and symbolic importance of the national flag, which represents India’s unity, sovereignty, and democratic values.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also remembered Pingali Venkayya’s immense contribution to the country. He noted that Venkayya made an immortal contribution by designing the Tiranga, which proudly flies as the symbol of India’s pride, aspirations, and identity. Shah further remarked that Venkayya’s role in the freedom struggle and his contributions to various streams of knowledge would continue to inspire every Indian.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described Pingali Venkayya as a visionary scholar, distinguished polyglot, and devoted patriot whose life was dedicated to national service. Singh emphasized that Venkayya’s contributions extended beyond designing the national flag, as he also played significant roles in education, agricultural research, and India’s independence movement. According to him, Venkayya’s unwavering commitment to nation-building remains an inspiration for future generations.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda also paid rich tributes, referring to Pingali Venkayya as the architect of the Tricolour. He said the freedom fighter gave India a distinct national identity by shaping the design of the National Flag. Nadda added that Venkayya’s unparalleled contribution continues to fill every Indian’s heart with patriotism, unity, and self-respect. Describing the Tricolour as a powerful symbol of unity, integrity, and India’s rich diversity, he said the inspiring life of Pingali Venkayya would forever remain memorable.
BJP President Nitin Nabin echoed similar sentiments while paying homage to the legendary freedom fighter. He stated that Pingali Venkayya’s life, ideals, and contributions would remain a constant source of inspiration and guidance for future generations. According to Nabin, by giving shape to the Tricolour, Venkayya bestowed a unique dignity upon India’s national identity.
Several Chief Ministers also joined the nation in remembering the architect of the National Flag. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath prayed that the Tricolour, symbolising Pingali Venkayya’s farsightedness and patriotism, would continue to inspire the spirit of “One India, Excellent India” among citizens.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said Venkayya’s inspiring life, marked by patriotism, dedication, and selfless service, would continue motivating every Indian to work for the nation’s progress.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid tribute, saying Pingali Venkayya’s unparalleled creation has woven India’s diversity into the fabric of a united national spirit. She described the Tricolour as a living emblem of the resolve, values, and devotion shared by 140 crore Indians.
