A replica of the revered Shri Tripureshwari Devi Temple in Tripura has been included among the 300 presidential gifts that will be offered for public bidding through the e-Upahaar 2026 online auction launched by President Droupadi Murmu. The auction, which will run from August 5 to September 5, 2026, is aimed at raising funds for various social causes while giving citizens an opportunity to own unique artefacts representing India’s cultural diversity and heritage.
The initiative was launched on Tuesday to mark the successful completion of four years of President Murmu’s tenure as the 15th President of India. Sworn into office on July 25, 2022, Murmu became the country’s first tribal President. According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the third edition of e-Upahaar reflects the enduring values of public service, inclusivity and collective national responsibility.
Among the highlights of this year’s collection is the replica of the Tripureshwari Devi Temple, also known as the Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the holiest Hindu shrines in northeastern India. Dedicated to Goddess Tripura Sundari, locally worshipped as Devi Tripureshwari, the temple is regarded as the third Mahavidya and an important manifestation of Goddess Parvati.
Situated in the historic town of Udaipur, approximately 55 kilometres from Agartala, the temple attracts thousands of devotees and tourists throughout the year. It is considered one of the most significant pilgrimage destinations in the Northeast and reportedly records the second-highest number of temple visitors in the region after the famous Kamakhya Temple in Assam. The inclusion of its replica in the presidential gift collection highlights Tripura’s rich religious and cultural heritage on a national platform.
Another major attraction in the auction is a golden-hued commemorative memento honouring Operation Sindoor, received by President Murmu. Rashtrapati Bhavan described the memento as a symbol of national strength, pride and unwavering resolve. It pays tribute to the courage and dedication of the Indian Air Force, recognising its contribution to national security while inspiring future generations with the ideals of bravery, honour and patriotism.
According to the official booklet accompanying the auction, the 300 gifts are much more than ceremonial souvenirs. They represent expressions of respect, goodwill and affection received by the President from different parts of the country and abroad. Each artefact reflects India’s extraordinary cultural diversity, artistic excellence and the collective aspirations of its people. Every item tells a unique story of a place, tradition, community or significant moment in the nation’s journey.
