Tripura BJP has suspended former MDC Padmalochan Tripura and expelled Booth member Debashish Saha over alleged anti-party activities and repeated violations of organisational discipline. The party reaffirmed its commitment to ideology, discipline and strict action against members violating organisational principles.
The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against two party members, including a former Member of the District Council (MDC), for allegedly engaging in repeated anti-party activities and violating organisational discipline.
According to an official press release issued by the state BJP, the disciplinary action was taken under the direction of the State BJP President after allegations of repeated breaches of party discipline and conduct considered detrimental to the organisation.
Among those facing action is former MDC Padmalochan Tripura, who has been suspended from all party responsibilities and organisational activities with immediate effect. The party alleged that despite being cautioned on multiple occasions, he continued to violate organisational discipline and engage in activities that were against the interests of the BJP.
The statement further claimed that Padmalochan Tripura had allegedly used social media platforms to circulate content that harmed the party’s image and undermined its organisational discipline. The BJP maintained that repeated warnings failed to bring about any change in his conduct, prompting the leadership to impose disciplinary measures.
In a separate decision, the party expelled Debashish Saha, also known as Kanai, from the BJP’s primary membership with immediate effect. Saha is associated with Booth No. 16 under the 8-Town Bordowali Mandal. According to the party, he was also found to have engaged in anti-party activities that violated the organisational principles and discipline of the BJP.
The BJP emphasised that both actions were taken in accordance with the party’s constitution and disciplinary framework. The leadership reiterated that maintaining organisational discipline and safeguarding the party’s ideology remain its highest priorities.
In its statement, the party asserted that no individual, irrespective of position or past responsibilities, is above the organisation. It stressed that the interests of the party and adherence to its ideology must always take precedence over personal considerations.
The BJP further stated that it would continue to take appropriate and stringent disciplinary action against any member found violating the party’s constitution, organisational principles or ideological commitments. The leadership said such measures are necessary to preserve unity, discipline and the integrity of the organisation.

The disciplinary action comes as the party continues to emphasise internal discipline and organisational accountability, signalling that violations of party norms will be dealt with firmly regardless of an individual’s status within the organisation.
