Students in Agartala intensified their protest, demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over alleged corruption in education, examination irregularities, and lack of transparency. Demonstrators called for accountability, fair practices, and nationwide education reforms while expressing solidarity with student movements across India.
Student protests in Agartala entered their third consecutive day as demonstrators intensified their demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging corruption in the education system, irregularities in examinations, and the absence of transparency and accountability in educational administration.
Gathering at the protest venue with placards and raising slogans, students emphasized that their movement extends beyond the resignation of a single minister. They stated that the campaign is aimed at protecting the future of education in India and restoring public confidence in the country’s education system.
Many protesters argued that corruption and alleged examination irregularities have severely affected deserving students and reduced trust in educational institutions. They asserted that honest students continue to suffer due to unfair practices and administrative failures.
One student participating in the demonstration said the movement seeks transparency, accountability, and fairness in education, adding that corruption in the system is destroying opportunities for students who work hard to succeed through merit.
The protesters also expressed concern over recent incidents in Delhi, referring to the removal of social activist Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar and allegations of police action against students participating in demonstrations. According to the protesters, these developments reflect attempts to suppress peaceful dissent and democratic expression.
Another student stated that education should remain a fundamental right and not become a privilege available only to a select few. Demonstrators maintained that students have the constitutional right to raise their voices against policies and practices they believe are harmful to the education sector.
Several participants described their demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as symbolic of a broader call for comprehensive education reforms. They argued that if the education system cannot ensure transparent examinations, fair recruitment processes, and equal opportunities for students, meaningful leadership changes are necessary.
The Agartala demonstrations are being held in solidarity with student movements taking place across different parts of the country, particularly in Delhi. Protesters claimed that corruption, administrative mismanagement, and a lack of accountability have weakened confidence in the education system.
Students outlined four key demands during the ongoing agitation: the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, greater transparency in education, stronger administrative accountability, and decisive action to eliminate corruption in examinations and related processes.
With the protest continuing for three days, the movement has attracted significant public attention across Tripura. Student leaders reiterated that their campaign is focused on safeguarding education rather than political interests. They vowed to continue their demonstrations until meaningful reforms are introduced, warning that their movement will expand further if their concerns remain unaddressed.
