Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia today chaired the Quarterly Business Review Meeting of the Department of Posts for the 1st Quarter of Financial Year 2026-27. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr Scindia said, India Post has recorded tremendous growth this quarter. He said, the total turnover as compared to 1st quarter of last year has grown by 22.2 per cent. Last year it was three thousand 280 crore rupees and this time it is four thousand eight crore rupees. He said, last year it grew by 20 per cent, with revenue increasing from 13 thousand 218 crore rupees to almost 15 thousand 500 crore rupees. The Minister said, India Post has set a very ambitious target for this year as well. He said, this is the first time in India Post’s history that it is recording double-digit growth. Mr Scindia said, historically, India Post’s annual growth has been in the range of 1 to 2.5 per cent but last year, it grew by close to 20 per cent. The meeting emphasized the modernization of core parcel services and the promotion of financial inclusion. The Minister said, significant growth has also been observed in citizen-centric postal services. Additionally, a framework has been devised to enhance the efficiency of parcel delivery through partnerships with major e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Shiprocket.
