Scotland beat Haiti 1-0 to end 28

Must Read

In FIFA World Cup 2026, Scotland ended a 28-year drought after beating Haiti 1-0 in their Group C clash at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts today. John McGinn’s first-half strike proved to be the difference as Scotland climbed to the top of its group. The goal was also Scotland’s first in the World Cup since Craig Burley’s strike in the 1998 edition, which helped the nation snatch a draw against Norway in their group-stage clash.

In another clash, Brazil opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Morocco in a Group C match at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, US. For Brazil, Vinícius Júnior scored an equalising goal in the 32nd minute. Number six Brazil and seventh-ranked Morocco are the only top 10 teams to meet in the first round of the expanded 48-nation World Cup tournament.

Earlier, the Group B clash between Qatar and Switzerland at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in California, United States, ended in a 1-1 draw. Switzerland took the lead with the opening goal, but Qatar struck back late in the match to level the score and earn a share of the points.

Meanwhile, in other fixtures today, the clash between Australia and Turkiye is currently underway in Group D, while Germany will face Curacao in Group E at 10:30 PM IST.
