The West Tripura District Police has restricted police and TSR personnel from creating or uploading reels, videos, and social media content while wearing official uniforms. Authorities warned that violations affecting the dignity, discipline, and public image of Tripura Police will invite strict departmental action under disciplinary rules.

The West Tripura District Police has imposed restrictions on police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel from creating or uploading reels, videos, photographs, and other social media content while wearing official uniforms.

The directive was issued through a memorandum from the office of the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, following concerns over the growing trend of police personnel appearing in social media reels and short videos while in uniform. Authorities stated that such activities could negatively affect the image, decorum, and discipline associated with the police force.

According to the memorandum, the police uniform is a symbol of authority, integrity, discipline, and public trust. Therefore, it should not be used for personal publicity, entertainment purposes, commercial promotions, or any activity that may bring disrepute to the department.

The order clearly states that members of the police force are prohibited from creating, participating in, or uploading social media content while wearing their uniforms if such content has the potential to undermine the dignity and professional standards of Tripura Police. Officials emphasized that every police personnel is expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct and professionalism while in uniform.

The memorandum further directs officers and personnel to immediately report any objectionable, derogatory, or inappropriate content involving police personnel in uniform that appears on social media platforms. Such incidents must be communicated through proper departmental channels for necessary action.

Police authorities noted that the decision was taken after observing several instances in which members of the force were producing and sharing reels, short videos, and other digital content while dressed in official uniforms. The department believes that unchecked social media activities of this nature could weaken public confidence and adversely affect the professional image of law enforcement agencies.

The West Tripura District Police has also warned that any violation of the newly issued instructions will be treated seriously. Personnel found violating the directive will face strict departmental action in accordance with relevant disciplinary rules and service regulations.

The latest directive reflects the department’s commitment to maintaining discipline, safeguarding the reputation of the force, and ensuring that the police uniform continues to represent public trust, responsibility, and professional integrity. As social media continues to influence public perception, the authorities have underlined the importance of responsible conduct by personnel both online and offline.
