The CPI(M) staged a protest march in Dharmanagar, Tripura, against the rising prices of essential commodities and increasing inflation. Party leaders alleged that soaring living costs are burdening common people and demanded immediate government intervention. The opposition warned of intensified statewide agitation if inflation remains unchecked.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] on Tuesday organized a protest march in Dharmanagar, raising concerns over the rising prices of essential commodities and the growing burden of inflation on common people.
The demonstration commenced around noon from the CPI(M)’s Dharmanagar sub-divisional office. A large number of party workers, supporters, and leaders participated in the march, which passed through several important roads of the town before returning to its starting point.
During the protest, participants raised slogans highlighting the continuous increase in the prices of daily necessities and the challenges faced by ordinary citizens due to the rising cost of living. The demonstrators alleged that inflation has significantly affected household budgets, making it increasingly difficult for people from lower and middle-income groups to manage their daily expenses.
Addressing the gathering after the march, CPI(M) state secretariat member Amitabha Dutta said that the unchecked rise in prices of essential goods has created serious hardships for the public. He alleged that the government has failed to take adequate steps to control inflation and protect consumers from the impact of escalating prices.
Dutta demanded immediate and effective measures to curb inflation and stabilize the prices of essential commodities. He further warned that the party would intensify its agitation across the state if the issue remained unresolved.
The protest was part of a broader statewide campaign being conducted by the CPI(M) against inflation and the increasing cost of living. Party leaders stated that similar programmes are being organized in different parts of Tripura to draw attention to the economic difficulties faced by the public.
