Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha praised specially-abled woman Sanhita Das for donating blood at a camp in Agartala’s Ramnagar. Calling it a proud moment for Tripura, he highlighted the state’s success in voluntary blood donation, healthcare improvements, women’s empowerment, and the importance of saving lives through blood donation.
A blood donation camp organized by the renowned Ramakrishna Club in the Ramnagar area of Agartala turned into an inspiring celebration of humanity and social responsibility on Wednesday when a specially-abled woman came forward to donate blood. The act earned widespread appreciation from Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who described it as a “moment of pride” for the entire state.
The blood donation camp was organized under the theme of saving lives through voluntary blood donation. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the camp in the presence of club members, social workers, public representatives, and a large number of voluntary donors.
During the programme, the Chief Minister personally interacted with donors and applauded their commitment to serving society. However, the highlight of the event was the participation of Sanhita Das, a physically challenged woman who donated blood with confidence and determination, inspiring everyone present.
Praising her contribution, Dr. Saha said that her act reflected the true spirit of humanity and inclusiveness. He noted that blood donation is one of the noblest forms of service and that the participation of a specially-abled individual sends a powerful message to society.
“There is no substitute for blood. Blood donation saves lives and also benefits donors physically and mentally. Today’s example demonstrates how deeply the blood donation movement has reached every section of society,” the Chief Minister said.
Emphasizing the importance of voluntary blood donation, Dr. Saha stated that Tripura has become one of the leading states in India in this field. According to him, the state’s blood banks now maintain reserves exceeding the required 40,000 units, ensuring that patients receive timely support during emergencies.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the significant improvements made in the healthcare sector over the years. He said that modern facilities, including blood component separation units and adequately equipped blood banks, have been established in hospitals across the state. These initiatives have strengthened Tripura’s healthcare infrastructure and improved access to critical medical services.
Dr. Saha further praised the role played by social organizations, clubs, and voluntary groups in promoting blood donation awareness. He remarked that many clubs are now actively involved in community welfare activities beyond sports and recreation, contributing significantly to public service initiatives.
Speaking on women’s participation, the Chief Minister noted that an increasing number of women are taking leadership roles in social and humanitarian activities, including blood donation drives. He linked this development to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of women’s empowerment and said that women’s active involvement is helping drive social progress.
Agartala Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, who was also present at the event, described blood donation as a “festival of humanity” in Tripura. He said the growing participation of citizens in such programmes has helped eliminate blood shortages and save countless lives.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Dr. Saha reiterated the message of saving lives through blood donation. Referring to the Ramakrishna Club initiative, he praised the organizers and donors for their humanitarian commitment and encouraged more people to participate in similar programmes.
