Tripura’s final electoral roll under SIR Phase-3 will be published on December 23 as the Election Commission launches nationwide voter verification across 16 states and three union territories with extensive door-to-door checks by Booth Level Officers.

A comprehensive revision of electoral rolls is set to begin across several states and union territories as the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the third phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The large-scale voter verification initiative will be carried out in 16 states and three union territories ahead of the publication of updated electoral rolls later this year.

According to the schedule released on Thursday, Tripura will publish its draft electoral rolls on October 21. After the completion of claims, objections and verification procedures, the final electoral roll for the state will be officially published on December 23.

The ECI stated that the Special Intensive Revision aims to ensure accuracy, transparency and inclusiveness in the electoral database before upcoming elections. Officials said the qualifying date for voter eligibility under the SIR process will vary between July 1 and October 1 depending on the respective state or union territory.

The third phase of the nationwide revision exercise will cover Tripura, Telangana, Punjab, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi, Nagaland, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur.

With the launch of Phase-3, the Election Commission’s revision process will extend to almost the entire country, excluding only Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

As part of the extensive verification campaign, more than 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of nearly 36.73 crore electors during the Enumeration Phase. The officials will be supported by around 3.42 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by different political parties to facilitate the revision process and assist voters.

The Election Commission explained that in Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur, the qualifying date for the revision exercise will be July 1. Preparatory activities, including staff training and printing of documents, began on May 20 and are expected to continue until May 29. House-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers in these states will be conducted from May 30 to June 28. The draft electoral rolls will be published on July 5, while the final rolls are scheduled for publication on September 6 after disposal of claims and objections.

For Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, the qualifying date will also be July 1. Training and document preparation activities are expected to continue from May 25 to June 3. The draft electoral roll will be published on July 10, and the final voters’ list will be released on September 11.

In Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh, the draft electoral rolls will be published on July 21, while the final electoral rolls are expected on September 22.

The Election Commission further announced that Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Delhi will have October 1 as the qualifying date for the revision process. Booth Level Officers in these states will conduct house visits between June 30 and July 29. Draft electoral rolls will be published on August 5, and the final electoral rolls will be released on October 7 following the claims and objections process.

In Telangana and Punjab, house-to-house verification will take place from June 25 to July 24. The draft electoral rolls for these states will be published on July 31, while the final rolls will be released on October 1.

Nagaland will publish its draft electoral rolls on September 20 and the final electoral roll on November 11. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand will release draft rolls on July 14 and final rolls on September 9.
