NITI Aayog approves Rs 2 crore for five major development projects in Dasda Aspirational Block of North Tripura, focusing on SHG livelihoods, digital education, sports infrastructure, Anganwadi electrification, and hostel upgrades to improve youth empowerment and rural welfare.
Fresh momentum has been given to rural development initiatives in North Tripura after the Empowered Committee of NITI Aayog approved five major projects worth Rs 2 crore for the Aspirational Block of Dasda under the Aspirational Blocks Programme.
The approved initiatives are aimed at improving livelihood opportunities, sports infrastructure, education facilities, child welfare services, and student accommodation across the block. Officials stated that the projects have been designed to bridge critical developmental gaps and strengthen social infrastructure in the region.
The proposals were presented virtually before the committee by Chandni Chandran, who highlighted the developmental needs and priority sectors of the block during the meeting.
One of the most significant projects approved under the programme is the establishment of an “Akanksha Haat” with an allocation of Rs 40 lakh. The marketplace is expected to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women associated with Self-Help Groups by providing them with a dedicated platform to market and sell locally produced goods. Officials believe the initiative will help strengthen rural entrepreneurship and increase economic participation among women in the area.
To promote sports and youth engagement, the committee has also sanctioned Rs 70 lakh for the construction of an “Akanksha Indoor Sports Complex” in Dasda. The facility will include modern indoor sports infrastructure intended to encourage participation among local youth and nurture sporting talent in the block.
In the child welfare and early education sector, Rs 40 lakh has been approved for the electrification of 200 Anganwadi centres across Dasda Block. The initiative is expected to improve infrastructure and service delivery for children and mothers while enhancing the overall functioning of the centres.
The education sector will also receive a digital upgrade through a Rs 20 lakh project that includes the installation of computers and projectors in five schools. The initiative is aimed at improving digital learning infrastructure and expanding access to technology-based education for students in rural areas.
Additionally, Rs 30 lakh has been sanctioned for the upgradation of four residential hostels to improve living conditions and facilities for students residing in the institutions.

Following the approval, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran expressed gratitude to NITI Aayog through social media and stated that groundwork for implementation of the projects would begin soon. Officials expressed confidence that the projects would contribute significantly toward inclusive growth and long-term development in Dasda Aspirational Block of North Tripura.
