AGMC launches Paediatric Cardiology OPD at GB Pant Hospital to strengthen child healthcare services in Tripura. The new facility will provide advanced diagnosis, cardiac consultation, and treatment for children suffering from congenital and acquired heart diseases across the state.
A new Paediatric Cardiology Outpatient Department (OPD) has been launched at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital under the Department of Paediatrics of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), aiming to strengthen specialized healthcare services for children in Tripura.
The newly introduced OPD was formally inaugurated by Secretary Kiran Gitte in the presence of senior doctors, healthcare officials, and medical specialists. The initiative is expected to improve access to advanced diagnosis, consultation, and treatment facilities for children suffering from various heart-related diseases in the state.
Hospital authorities stated that the specialized Pediatric Cardiology OPD will remain operational every Saturday and will focus on treating congenital and acquired heart diseases among children. The facility is expected to provide organized and modern cardiac healthcare support to young patients who previously had limited access to specialized treatment within the state.
Officials associated with the healthcare initiative said the department would play an important role in early detection and timely management of pediatric cardiac disorders. The move is also expected to reduce the burden on families seeking treatment outside Tripura for specialized heart care services for children.
The inauguration programme was attended by Principal of AGMC and GBP Hospital Dr. Tapan Majumder, Medical Superintendent and Head of Department Dr. Bidhan Goswami, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, Pediatric Cardiology specialist Dr. A.S. Trivedi, and Dr. Rakesh Das, among others.
Heads of different departments, faculty members, medical professionals, and healthcare staff were also present during the event. Medical experts expressed hope that the newly launched OPD would strengthen pediatric healthcare infrastructure and ensure better treatment opportunities for children suffering from cardiac ailments across Tripura.
